Freightliner LLC has announced it is adding a third shift and 593 new full-time workers at the company’s Cleveland, NC, truck manufacturing plant. This workforce expansion is required to meet increased production demands at the plant, which has been increasing its output throughout the year in response to the improving North American heavy-duty truck market, said the OEM.

The Cleveland plant is Freightliner’s largest manufacturing facility. With the addition of the new jobs, employment will rise to approximately 3,600 people. This will make the plant’s employment level its highest in five years.

The third shift is scheduled to begin in mid-July. The company has already been hiring for the new production positions.

Freightliner also announced its Gastonia, NC, parts manufacturing plant has added 100 full-time employees. The plant, which rolls out cab and chassis parts, now employs 875 people.
