Kansas City-based brake maker Haldex is planning to shut down its Paris, TN, plant by next year and relocate production of air brake system components to other factories, citing competitive reasons.

Haldex, which bought the Paris facility in 1998, added that it eventually plans to sell the plant and its clutch and hydraulic brake product lines that are built there.
