Major road closures in Western Washington weekend of August 10

Aug. 9, 2012

Truckers will find themselves taking plenty of detours the weekend of August 12 in areas south and east of Seattle, WA. Starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 10, crews will completely close both directions of SR 167 between south 180th Street and I-405 for 58 hours.

SR 167 isn't the only closure that will impact traffic over the weekend of August 10th. SR 520 over Lake Washington will also be closed.  Both routes are important trucking lanes.

Drivers should also anticipate heavy congestion on alternate routes such as I-405, I-5 and SR 181.

The SR 167 closure is to enable crews to cut through 65 feet of pavement to install a new fish-friendly culvert on Panther Creek where it passes under SR 167 in Renton. To take advantage of the closure, they will also work on other road maintenance in the work zone, according to the Washington State DOT.
