Tacoma, WA-based Interstate Distributor Co. conducted a weeklong celebration of the carrier’s 80th anniversary late last month, which included celebrations at three of the fleet’s terminals.
Interstate began operations in 1933 when Bob McLean, who owned one truck, started hauling cedar shakes from Washington State to California.
Interstate president & CEO Marc Rogers kicked off the celebration at the carrier’s Lebanon, TN, terminal. “We are proud of our 80-years in business and of the talented associates, commitment to customer service and ability to change that got us here,” Rogers said.
“Our future is bright,” he continued, “we have a strong leadership team in place to expand our service footprint and ensure we are building the best trucking company in America through our foundational principles of safety first, service always and a passion for operational excellence.”
Other events were held at the fleet’s Fontana, CA terminal with a final celebration held at the carrier’s headquarters in Tacoma.
In May 2011, Interstate was acquired by Saltchuk Resources, Inc. Saltchuk is a privately owned family investment firm formed in 1982 and based in the Pacific Northwest.
