Oak Brook, IL-based truck component manufacturer Federal Signal is hiring a spate of new executives to handle various operations within its business.
John Gruber becomes the company’s new vp-corporate development, focusing on Federal Signal’s management of acquisitions and divestitures, along with oversight for joint venture formation plus equity and real estate investments. He replaces Duane Doerle who retired earlier this year.
Gruber joins Federal Signal from Grand Vehicle Works Holdings LLC (GVW), Highland Park, IL, a specialty truck maker recently sold to International Truck & Engine Corp. He started his career with Deloitte and Touche, LLP, holding positions in tax consulting, valuations consulting and other advisory work related to acquisitions and divestitures.
Federal Signal has also hired Alan L. Shaffer as president of its tool group, which is headquartered in Dayton, Ohio and had revenues totaling $161 million in 2004. Shaffer comes from American Axle & Manufacturing, a global manufacturer of automotive driveline and chassis components. He succeeds Alan Ringler who resigned to pursue other interests.
