International Class 8 trucks can now be factory-equipped with Air-Weigh’s on-board truck weight scale. Class 8 tractors from International’s assembly plant in Chatham, ON will be pre-installed at the Waycon International New Truck Processing Center next door.

Air-Weigh scales allow drivers to monitor the actual on-the-ground weight of the entire vehicle to ensure that the load does not exceed a legal GVW and that the load is legally distributed over the axles. By avoiding the need to check-weigh at a commercial scale, the driver also avoids scale fees, fines, wasted time and out-of-route miles, Air-Weigh said. That means eliminating returns to the loading site and waiting to have the load re-worked, the company added.

The Waycon center is a 40,000 sq. ft., 35-bay facility located next to both International’s plant and International dealer Waycon International Trucks Ltd. The Chatham plant is the where most of International’s 9000I Series conventionals are built.

In 2000, over 4,500 new International Class 8 tractors were processed by Waycon's New Truck Processing Center before being delivered to customer locations and dealers as “road-ready vehicles,” said Brad Connor, the center’s manager.
