Here are the headlines from this week in trucking as of June 18.

Dana Inc. is purchasing Eaton Mobility

Eaton Corp’s mobility arm is merging with Dana to form a combined, massive global powertrain business. Dana is paying $1.1 billion to absorb Eaton Mobility, and the expanded Dana will have Eaton’s transmissions, engines, emissions products, and electrification capabilities for both commercial and light vehicles. The combined company is estimated to reach $11 billion in sales for 2026.

Nearly 800 Mack and Volvo trucks have “do not drive” warnings

Active recalls for Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) are urging some owners not to drive their trucks due to safety issues. The brands’ recalls warn of the potential for loose lug nuts. Potentially 644 Mack vehicles, ranging across recent Anthem, Pioneer, Pinnacle, and Granite models, and 155 Volvo vehicles, ranging across recent VAH, VN, VHD, VNL, and VNR models, are subject to the recalls.

Autonomous truck company Einride goes public

Sweden-based Einride AB completed its SPAC merger to enter the Nasdaq under ticker ENRD. As of the time of this recording, Einride’s market capitalization is about $1.32 billion. Einride is yet another autonomous truck company to go public, following in the wake of Aurora Innovation, Kodiak AI, and Pony AI.

In fuel this week, diesel fell 22 cents

The national average on-highway diesel price fell for a fourth week in a row, down to $5.06 according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), or down to $5.19 according to AAA.

The U.S. and Iran have signed another ceasefire, fueling hopes that maybe this one will stick. The countries signed a memorandum of understanding for a 60-day ceasefire, which would also hopefully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. At the time of this recording, the Strait still has no traffic.
