As spring turns to summer, so does the projected publication date of the Dept. of Transportation's proposal to require speed limiters in heavy-duty trucks, according to a mid-year review of regulations under development. The speed-limiter proposal, which has been held up in the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for more than a year, was originally scheduled to be published in March 2014.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has had a busy first half of the year, however, with the safety fitness determination (SFD), entry-level driver training (ELDT), and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) proposals all moving forward.

The slides above are the major regulations scheduled by FMCSA, including their original publication target dates and progress since the beginning of the year, as listed in the June Report on DOT Significant Rulemakings.
