Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America (MEAA) has reached agreement to merge its electrical components with Midtronics MRFID technology and battery management equipment. This will allow MEAA’s electrical components to generate complete historical service data for batteries, starters and alternators.
The project aims to improve component lifecycle management by using RFID technology to follow each component from manufacturer date to its end life. It will allow battery and electrical system diagnostic equipment to read and write test data at every service event.
Midtronics will also use its battery management information system (BMIS), a customizable web-based reporting service, to “enhance the management tools and processes used to drive improvements in preventative and predictive maintenance programs for vehicle electrical system components,” Midtronics said.
