Arrow Truck Sales has named Donald Turkelson of Battle Creek, MI the winner of its “Back on the Road 2008 contest.” The award, announced at the Mid-America Trucking Show, is designed to give a deserving independent owner-operator a truck and a job.
Turkelson was shot in a company drop lot on March 19, 2002. He has since completed extensive physical therapy while serving as a pastor for the United Methodist Church. However, he wanted to get back to trucking.
“I’m honored to be chosen as the winner of ‘Back On The Road,’” said Turkelson. “For many years I’ve been unable to drive full-time and I’m looking forward to once again doing what I love—- working full-time as a driver who is helping the American economy by delivering goods and services.”
Turkelson will receive a 2005 VNL 670 tractor and a one-year work agreement with Heartland Express, as well as a warranty, insurance, truck detailing, tires and other accessories, Arrow said.
