Aluminum component maker Alcoa has hired Walter Frankiewicz as president of AFL Automotive. He succeeds Robert Alexander, who is retiring from the company.

Frankiewicz—formerly vp & gm of ArvinMeritor’s global chassis systems division—is charged with growing Alcoa’s AFL business, which designs and manufactures automotive electrical/electronic systems and components, while managing more than 34,000 employees in 13 countries.
