TheTransportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) recently announced enhancements and improvements to its Watchdog Program, a forum for TIA members to report problems to each other, and help members make better decisions when selecting partner companies.

TIA members using Watchdog are able to report and check on motor carriers, or companies and individuals posing as motor carriers, that did one or more of the following: unauthorized re-brokering of shipments; no show and no call; cancelled after accepting load; held load hostage, back-solicited shipper; made in-transit agreement modifications; had theft or unjustified loss of freight; and persistent canceling.

The new Agent Watchdog offering allows TIA members to report and check independent contractors that did one or more of the following: booking false loads/providing false invoices; failing to perform as agreed on advances or loans; inflating margins; violating credit terms; and committing carrier qualification process violations.

“TIA Watchdog and now TIA Agent Watchdog, provide significant benefits to TIA members in their efforts to protect both their customers and their own business from marketplace fraud,” said Robert Voltmann, TIA’s president and CEO. “And both TIA Watchdog and TIA Agent Watchdog are provided as a benefit of membership,” “This is one more way TIA helps its members succeed.”

The revisions will enable members who use independent sales agents to alert each other to problems in their segment of the market. The system can also be fully integrated into the members’ own software systems, either directly or through a third party provider.
