April 29, 2015: Strike continues at ports; New CNG stations coming soon; Hauling 80,000 lbs.

April 29, 2015

Here is a look at what is happening in the world of transportation this morning:

• About 16,000 truckers who work two of southern California’s ports and several hundred from four other companies continued to strike this morning. According to Splash 24/7, both Los Angeles and Long Beach ports said their business was “hardly affected and freight was moving unimpeded.”

• Universal LNG Solutions has rolled out the first four trucks in a fleet of 95 that have the capability to haul 80,000 lbs. of goods for more than 700 miles per fill-up, LNG Industry announced.

• Two natural gas refueling stations will be built in Dalton, GA, and Newport, TN, this summer, the Times Free Press reported. There is a possibility for another new unit in Chattanooga within the next year, according to the Times.

• Testimony has ended in the trial of a Georgia truck driver accused of causing a fatal crash in North Dakota, according to the Bismark Tribune. The driver faces three counts of negligent homicide and up to 15 years in prison, the Tribune said.

Truck drivers are wanted in Dunmore, PA – and across the nation – as the trucking industry is forced to make do with fewer employees. The News Station WNEP16 has more.
