Collins Brothers Moving Corporation supports annual Swim Across America event benefiting cancer research

Collins Brothers Moving Corporation, an Atlas Van Lines agent, is preparing to again support the Long Island Sound chapter of Swim Across America. This annual charity swim has become the organization’s largest fundraising event nationwide.

The event began in 1992 after six local lifeguards approached Collins Brothers President Frank Webers about organizing a swim across Long Island Sound to raise money for cancer research. In honor of his late wife, Kathy, Webers agreed. The inaugural event raised $15,000 and has since grown into a major regional fundraiser that now includes one-mile and two-mile swim options, as well as a series of summer pool events for children.

The Long Island Sound chapter of Swim Across America raised $2.3 million in 2025, drawing more than 650 swimmers, hundreds of volunteers, and nearly 2,000 supporters. Participants included community teams, kayakers, police officers, clubs, families, and local organizations.

Funds raised through the event support cancer research programs at two major laboratories and a local organization that assists cancer patients with food, transportation, and other needs. Research conducted at supported institutions has contributed to the development of treatments, including the immunotherapy drug Keytruda, and researchers are continuing work on additional cancer therapies.

Collins Brothers employees assist with logistics and event support, while members of the Webers family remain actively involved in planning and organizing the annual swim.

“When you’re facing cancer, you feel helpless,” Webers said. “Supporting something like this gives people hope. It reminds you that you can make a difference.”

RNR Tire Express gifts Georgia father a new 2026 Ford Maverick

RNR Tire Express recently revealed that Peyton Childs of Valdosta, Georgia, is the winner of the brand's 2026 Father's Day Giveaway. Childs was surprised with a new 2026 Ford Maverick after being selected from more than 18,000 entries submitted by families across the country.

Childs was nominated by his wife, Megan, who described him as a devoted husband, loving father of three, and the definition of a family man. She explained that Childs always puts his family's needs ahead of his own, driving a vehicle with more than 300,000 miles so his wife and children could have a safe and reliable vehicle.

"Father's Day is about recognizing the men who quietly show up for their families every day," Adam Sutton, CEO of RNR Tire Express and DX3 Brands, said. "When we heard Peyton's story, it was clear he puts others before himself, and we were honored to celebrate him with a brand new Ford Maverick. We hope it serves as a reminder that the sacrifices he and so many fathers make for their family are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated."

Bridgestone awards $200,000 in grants to expand adaptive sports programming in 75 U.S. schools

Bridgestone Americas recently revealed the second round of support for its nationwide adaptive sports grant program. The program awards eight $25,000 grants to school districts and nonprofit partners, expanding access to sports for students with disabilities. The $200,000 in total funding, provided through the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund, will directly benefit 1,439 students and 75 public schools across the U.S.

"Every student deserves the chance to experience the benefits of sports by building confidence, connections and lifelong skills that come from being part of a team,” Wade Munday, director of corporate philanthropy and social impact for Bridgestone Americas, said. “Through these grants, we’re helping schools create more opportunities for students of all abilities to play, compete, and reach their full potential both on and off the field."

This second round of grants builds on Bridgestone's initial investment in adaptive sports in 2025, bringing the total two-year investment to $400,000. Among the grant recipients, five high-performing programs will be granted renewed support, and three new grantees will be awarded funding.

The grants will fund curriculum development, specialized equipment, and coach training. The full list of recipients of Bridgestone’s 2026 Adaptive Sports in Schools Grants can be viewed here.

FedEx operates humanitarian relief flight to support earthquake recovery in Venezuela

FedEx is using its integrated air and ground network to bring humanitarian relief to those affected by the earthquake that devastated Venezuela. A dedicated humanitarian relief flight to Venezuela is carrying necessity kits provided by Global Empowerment Mission (GEM). The supplies are expected to support approximately 10,000 people affected by the earthquake.

“Our unmatched air and ground global network gives FedEx the unique ability to respond when critical supplies need to reach communities in crisis,” said Richard W. Smith, COO, international, and CEO, airline, FedEx. “The tireless dedication and united effort of our team members are what make a humanitarian mission like this possible. We are proud to help GEM deliver essential supplies to the people of Venezuela.”

The shipment was transported aboard a FedEx Boeing 767 that departed from Miami International Airport and landed in Caracas, Venezuela. The mission marks the first FedEx aircraft operation into Venezuela under recently authorized U.S. earthquake-relief measures.

The kits will provide shelf-stable meals and help address hygiene and sanitation needs that can become urgent when homes, utilities, and essential community services have been damaged or disrupted. Each kit contains water, hydration powder, non-perishable foods, and hygiene items that will be distributed to families and communities in the state of La Guaira, Venezuela.
