    Winn-Dixie Stores Inc, based in Jacksonville FL, announced sales and earnings for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended June 25, 2003.

    Net earnings from continuing operations for the quarter were $62.5 million, compared with $52.8 million for the same quarter in 2002. For the year, net earnings from continuing operations were $239.2 million, versus $187.2 million for the previous year.

    Sales from continuing operations for the 12 weeks ended June 25, 2003, were $2.7 billion, a decrease of $130.0 million or 4.5% compared with the same quarter in 2002. For the 52 weeks ended June 25, 2003, sales from continuing operations were $12.2 billion, a decline of $166.0 million or 1.3% versus the year before.

    Winn-Dixie operates 1,073 stores in 12 states and the Bahama Islands.
