Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC plans to begin operation of a new foundation brake production facility slated for fourth quarter 2007. The location of the new facility will be announced at a later date.

Foundation drum brake (S-Cam) production will move from its current location at a Dana Corp facility in Glasgow KY. Air disc brake production will be transitioned from a Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC facility in Frankfort KY. Bendix's Frankfort facility, which also manufactures air compressors, is expected to shut down by late 2007.

The location for the new facility has not yet been determined, although the company is evaluating sites in both Kentucky and Tennessee, within commuting distance of Glasgow. The move will help fulfill the long-term goal of Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake to have full operational control of its foundation brake manufacturing processes.

Initially, the new facility will employ approximately 175, with continued growth expected as product demand and production expansion dictates.

Formed in July 2004, Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake is a joint venture of Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC and Dana Corp.
