OSI Group LLC and refrigerated warehousing and distribution services company Millard have jointly announced the opening of a new OSI plant attached to the Millard facility in Geneva IL.
The new operation is producing branded and private label frozen entree dishes such as Salisbury steak and chicken parmagiana, as well as a variety of frozen pasta products including lasagna. These items are sold to supermarkets, mass merchandisers, club stores, foodservice, and other customers throughout the United States.
OSI will also use the facility as a consolidation point for shipments from other production locations to customers across the nation.
“The new facility is a great opportunity for OSI to accommodate the growth of existing product lines and enable our expansion into new, attractive product categories,” said Kevin Scott, executive vice-president of OSI. “Additionally, having the new operation attached to Millard’s distribution center significantly reduces overall product handling and supports OSI’s sustainability plan objectives. Millard is helping us accomplish this by providing expertise in construction, logistics, and warehousing.”
The space attached to the Millard facility includes a production area, storage, and office space that total approximately 80,000 square feet. OSI expects to employ 100 workers at the new location initially.
The Geneva site is part of the Millard network. Most locations have order pick services, computerized inventory management and product-scanning systems, exporting services, rail access, and transportation services including LTL.
OSI is a privately held corporation with more than 50 facilities in 17 nations. The company’s global headquarters is in Aurora IL. For more information, visit www.osigroup.com.
