Maersk Logistics, Damco plan to merge operations

Maersk Logistics and Damco Sea & Air will combine the Netherlands-based freight forwarding operations of Damco with Maersk Logistics’ forwarding business. The integrated business will be named Damco.

A P Moller-Maersk Group acquired Damco Sea & Air in 2005 as part of the acquisition of P&O Nedlloyd. Formed in 1988, Damco Sea & Air was the forwarding division of P&O Nedlloyd. Maersk began freight forwarding operations in 2001 under the DSL Star Express brand name, and as of July 1, 2007, these operations will be part of Damco.

Damco has its own network of branch offices in about 90 nations and employs around 3,600 workers.
