Santa Monica Seafood recently received Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000), making it the first seafood company in the United States to achieve this accomplishment. The certification has been granted by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an internationally recognized ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certifying body.

FSSC 22000 is the latest and most complete certification program for food safety management systems based on the ISO 22000 global food safety management system standard as well as PAS 220. This standard was developed to address prerequisite program requirements for food product and ingredient manufacturers. It has been fully approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

An established FSSC 22000 system will help Santa Monica Seafood build a culture of food safety into everyday activities, service, and communication. In addition, the company actively promotes safe product handling by continually reinforcing established policies and procedures through associate training in food safety awareness.

A family-owned and operated company for the past 72 years, Santa Monica Seafood is a leading specialty wholesale distributor of fresh and frozen seafood in the southwestern United States. With corporate offices and processing facility in Rancho Dominguez CA, the firm also operates two retail stores in Santa Monica CA and Costa Mesa CA that specialize in seafood and seafood-related products.
