Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ: WERN), a transportation and logistics provider, is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2016. The company, founded by C L Werner in 1956, hosted events January 4 at terminal locations and dedicated sites throughout the nation to kick off the year-long celebration.

“I wanted to build a business that offered quality service and delivered value to our customers, all while creating career opportunities,” said C L Werner, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer. “That’s still my passion today, and I couldn’t be more pleased with where we are headed.”

He also took the opportunity to introduce the new decal package that will adorn all of the company’s new trucks and trailers. The updated branding is being applied to new trucks and new white trailers as they are added to the company’s fleet. The firm’s truck age is expected to average less than 1.5 years by the end of 2016.

The year 2016 marks additional significant milestones for the company, including 30 years of being publicly traded on Nasdaq and 10 years since the launch of Werner Global Logistics.

“It is truly remarkable what C L Werner and this organization have been able to accomplish in 60 years,” said Derek Leathers, president and chief operating officer. “Werner started with one man and one truck, and we are very proud to have built this company into the transportation leader it is today.”

Werner maintains global headquarters in Omaha NE with offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, and Australia. Among the five largest truckload carriers in the United States, it has a diversified portfolio of transportation services that includes dedicated van, temperature-controlled and flatbed; medium-to-long-haul, regional and local van; and expedited services. Werner’s Value Added Services portfolio includes freight management, truck brokerage, intermodal, and international services. International services are provided through domestic and global subsidiary companies and include ocean, air, and ground transportation; freight forwarding; and customs brokerage.
