Great Plains Transport spurs expansion with first chief growth officer

Feb. 20, 2023
Jacob Perry, formerly of tank truck carrier Dupré Logistics, lands new position with North Dakota-based refrigerated transportation company

Great Plains Transport (GPT) recently named Jacob Perry to the newly established position of chief growth officer as it seeks to capitalize on rapid expansion and focus on developing strategic partnerships with customers.

Perry brings more than a decade of leadership and business development experience to GPT, headquartered in Mapleton, North Dakota, which offers refrigerated freight, cargo, and dedicated transportation services.

“We hired Jacob to propel GPT forward and ensure customers receive first-rate service,” said Mike Holland, GPT CEO. “Jacob’s versatility across customer development and operations has prepared him to be a leader at Great Plains Transport as we continually invest in being a dynamic partner for our customers.”

As chief growth officer, Perry will work to refine GPT’s customer development process and continue to pursue GPT’s goals to deliver more to customers and employees.

“It is not every day that you get to work with a company that shares your values and prioritizes accountability, teamwork, and having a first-class environment for drivers to deliver safely and on time,” Perry said. “The people at GPT have tremendous passion, and every day I plan to ensure they are supported in their development to ensure we deliver more for our customers in a fun atmosphere.”

GPT offers comprehensive trucking services designed to meet customers’ and drivers’ evolving needs. As a family business, GPT started with 10 trucks, 10 trailers, and 10 drivers in 1993. Today, GPT has 300 trucks, 300 trailers, and nearly 300 drivers.

Prior to GPT, Perry worked at Dupré Logistics, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he transformed the organization from a regional chemical distributor to a national retail logistics provider with more than $130 million of growth, GPT said.
