CARB issues alternative fuels advisory

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has produced an advisory detailing the use of alternative diesel fuels and fuel additives in engines equipped with diesel emissions control strategies (DECS).

The agency is requiring DECS manufacturers to specify the fuel necessary for proper functioning of DECS.

Use of any alternative diesel fuels and/or fuel additives not specifically listed in the advisory is “illegal and strictly prohibited,” said CARB.
