Truck-Lite’s Department of Transportation (DOT)-compliant 7" round LED (light-emitting diode) headlamp, now available in 12-volt, is showing bright possibilities for heavy- and medium-duty trucks and off-road vehicles.

The 12-volt headlamp provides a new level of performance for forward lighting applications, offering the extended life and energy efficiency of LED technology. Truck-Lite says it is the only manufacturer currently producing the standard 7" round size LED headlamps, both 12- and 24-volt, that meet or exceed all applicable DOT requirements pertaining to headlights.

The 24-volt LED headlamp was under development and testing for more than three years and has been in the Iraq and Afghanistan Theater since summer 2007 with 100,000-plus shipped to date. Some final development work took place at the Army Cold Regions Test Center near Fairbanks AK, where technicians rigorously tested the LED headlamps with rave reviews. The LED headlamps have also undergone hot-weather testing at military installations in Yuma AZ and Panama with exceptional results!

Additional headlamp features and benefits include:

    • Better visibility and improved safety
    • Pure white beam pattern
    • Low power consumption
    • Resistant to shock and vibration
    • Hard-coated polycarbonate lens
    • Design with epoxy seal of diodes to ensure long life
    • Made in America
