Darden Restaurants recently donated nine 26-ft. refrigerated trucks to Feeding America member food banks. The company, which operates a portfolio of full-service restaurants, provided a $2 million grant through the Darden Restaurants Foundation with support from Penske Truck Leasing.

"Five years into this effort, we've seen how a single truck can transform the way a food bank serves its community," Rick Cardenas, president and CEO of Darden Restaurants, said. "We're grateful to continue this work with Feeding America and Penske Truck Leasing, knowing that each mile traveled helps in the fight against hunger."

The company stated that the trucks will strengthen food distribution and mobile pantry programs, ensuring perishable foods reach communities with the greatest need. Each truck can carry up to 12,000 lb. of food, helping food banks transport fresh items safely and efficiently.

"We can end hunger when we all work together. This donation of refrigerated trucks allows food banks to safely and swiftly transport food and resources to communities that need it most," Linda Nageotte, president and COO at Feeding America, said. "We are grateful for the dedicated and effective support of Darden Restaurants Foundation and Penske Truck Leasing for their shared commitment to our mission."
