Henry Colbeck launches Supra HE units to improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption in refrigerated fleet

Henry Colbeck recently deployed six Carrier Transicold Supra High Efficiency (HE) 8 units to support its transition to an exclusive Carrier Transicold fleet. The company, which supplies chilled and frozen products to customers across northern England and Scotland, selected the units for their refrigeration capacity and lower fuel consumption.
“We’ve started moving towards Carrier Transicold because its products offer the performance, reliability, and service support we need,” Hugh O’Brien, operations director at Henry Colbeck, said. “The Supra series has been a great addition to our business over the years, helping us reduce fuel consumption while performing exceptionally well under pressure year-round. We’re confident that will continue as we introduce the new Supra HE technology.”
The Supra HE units are mounted on 18-tonne (≈39,700 lb.) MAN TGM trucks with custom Gray & Adams bodies and separate storage access points. The semi-electric architecture makes the units quieter, lighter, and more compact while reducing brazed joints by 30% and refrigerant charge by 42%, lowering carbon impact. The trucks operate up to 70,000 kilometers (≈43,500 miles) annually, completing up to 15 deliveries per day from Henry Colbeck’s Gateshead and Coatbridge facilities.
