Prevoté recently put into operation France’s first Sunswap electric transport refrigeration unit, installed on a Chereau refrigerated trailer serving frozen goods delivery routes for Carrefour.
The company, which operates refrigerated logistics for supermarket delivery, is using the Endurance system to manage single-temperature frozen transport at -20°C (-4°F) across Carrefour delivery flows in Hauts-de-France and Paris.
The deployment follows Sunswap’s U.K. partnership with Chereau, announced at Solutrans 2025 in Lyon, and demonstrates the operational viability of electric refrigerated trailers in high-demand cold chain routes.
Endurance enables operators to reduce refrigeration costs by up to 81% compared to diesel systems. Fleet managers gain real-time visibility into temperature and energy data across all trailers, improving utilization, monitoring, and route planning. The trailer’s battery and solar system operate independently of the truck’s diesel engine.
“The results from the trial confirm a 21-hour operating range in frozen condition, demonstrating the high level of performance and technological maturity of the refrigeration unit,” Stéphane Bouvry, purchasing and fleet management manager at Prévoté, stated. “While summer temperatures may slightly impact the operating range, the solar panels installed on the trailer roof will largely compensate for this variation and maintain a high level of performance.”
