Polar King recently launched the Ursa Major—a purpose-built 6-ft.-by-20-ft. refrigerated trailer engineered to deliver dependable mobile cold storage for emergency response, disaster recovery, and other mission-critical operations.
Designed for first responders, emergency management agencies, disaster relief organizations, military operations, utility restoration crews and other critical response teams, the Ursa Major provides reliable refrigerated and frozen storage wherever food, water, pharmaceuticals, laboratory specimens and other temperature-sensitive supplies must remain protected, the company reported.
“Critical response teams need equipment they can trust regardless of weather conditions, deployment location or mission requirements,” Andy Hogan, Polar King national sales manager, said in a news release. “Whether supporting disaster response efforts, staging emergency supplies, preserving pharmaceuticals or providing refrigerated storage in remote locations, the Ursa Major is designed to help organizations maintain operational readiness when dependable refrigeration cannot be compromised.”
The Ursa Major features a temperature range of 0 degrees Fahrenheit to 50 degrees F, providing organizations with a versatile mobile cold storage solution that can be deployed wherever operations demand.
Built for the toughest operating environments, the trailer boasts Polar King’s signature seamless fiberglass interior and exterior construction combined with 4 in. of high-performance insulation. The one-piece fiberglass design resists rust, corrosion, and deterioration while helping maintain consistent internal temperatures in extreme weather and demanding field conditions, Polar King said.
The Ursa Major also marks an important milestone as the first Polar King reefer trailer built on a Diamond C FMAX210 gooseneck trailer platform that enhances towing stability, improves weight distribution and provides rugged performance for organizations operating in demanding conditions.
To simplify deployment, the trailer features an integrated aluminum slider ramp with hydraulic lift assist, allowing personnel to load and unload supplies quickly and efficiently. Additional heavy-duty features, including a slipper roller suspension system, cushion coupler, and 14-ply tires, help ensure dependable performance wherever the mission takes it.
