Safe drivers, tech experts and more from Vision Zero
QUEENS, NY. Zero fatalities and zero major injuries on its streets is the motto behind Mayor Bill de Blasio’s movement to improve traffic safety. That movement, Vision Zero, involves a task force from various city departments to curb traffic-related deaths.During Vision Zero’s second forum, held Nov. 5 at the Queens Theatre, New York City fleets, the police department, and other city officials gathered to discuss fleet best practices in safety. Among various vendors and safety experts, one of the highlights of the event was a ceremony for this year’s Good Operator (GO) award recipients. A group of 60 city employees, chosen from various city departments, were honored for their years of safe driving. Winners included fleet operators with at least 10 years of employment and five years of driving without a preventable collision or traffic violation.
