• NPTC and Bridgestone/Bandag honor safe fleets

    Companies whose fleets experienced the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles for the past year were presented with 2012 Fleet of the Year Awards at the recent National Private Truck Council Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition held in Cincinnati, OH. The awards, sponsored by Bridgestone/Bandag Tire Solutions, are given for the entire fleet’s vehicle accident rate frequency.

    Companies whose fleets experienced the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles for the past year were presented with 2012 Fleet of the Year Awards at the recent National Private Truck Council Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition held in Cincinnati, OH. The awards, sponsored by Bridgestone/Bandage Tire Solutions, are given for the entire fleet’s vehicle accident rate frequency.

    In the Local Operations category, Dominion Virginia Power took first place, followed by Milliken & Company and Ace Hardware Corp.

    Hospira Fleet Services earned the first place award for a Regional Operation with less than 50 vehicles, while Moen, Inc. took first place in the Mixed Operation category for fleets with less than 50 vehicles, followed by Sugar Foods Corp. Internal Fleet in second place and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in third.

    In the Large Fleet Category (fleets with greater than 50 vehicles), Hittman Transport Services, Inc. garnered first place for Regional Operations, followed by Contract Transportation Systems/Sherwin Williams in second place.

    The first place award for Large Fleets with Mixed Operations went to GNC Transportation, LLC. Two companies shared second place--- Northwest Food Products Transportation, LLC and Land O’ Lakes. Targa Transport, LLC earned a third place award.

    Companies and their employees were also recognized with Gold Seal Awards for having operated their private fleets for the past year without experiencing a single accident.  This year, six companies  earned the prestigious Gold Seal Award Certificate of Achievement: ADM Trucking, Inc.; Batesville Logistics, Inc.; CVS Transportation, LLC; Hittman Transport Services; Shaw Transport, Inc.; and Targa Transport, LLC.

    Six companies were also presented with Silver Seal Awards for reducing their accident frequency rates by 40% or more, compared to their records of the previous year. This year, ADM Trucking, Inc. received a Silver Seal Award Certificate of Merit, along with Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC; CVS Transportation, LLC; Frito-Lay, Inc.; Orgill, Inc.; and Shaw Transport, Inc.

    Bronze Seal Awards (Certificates of Progress) went to three companies for making progress in reducing their accident frequency rates by 20% to 39%, as compared with their records of the previous year: ADM Trucking, Inc.; CVS Transportation, LLC; and Frito-Lay, Inc.
