ORLANDO. Every component that goes on a Class 8 commercial truck today comes with its own distinct warranty claims process – making warranty management a complex and oft-times onerous task for fleets. Now RapidWarranty.com is trying to untangle this warranty claims jungle with a single process that can be used for all major commercial truck components and brands – all done online via its web portal.

"There is no need for multiple terminals and skilled claims specialists with our system," said Bharat Thacker, president of RapidWarranty.com here at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s (TMC) annual convention. "Built-in intelligence handles all of the claim routing and necessary formatting to give fleets a fast, safe, and extremely easy-to-use claim filing system, plus a permanent record of what was reported and when it was repaired."

Thacker said his company grew out of TMC’s effort – begun in the late 1990s – to standardize warranty claims filings by developing a single set of codes for all OEMs and suppliers to use. Building an XML-based Internet site around those codes, Thacker said RapidWarranty.com now allows fleets to both simplify and speed up their warranty claims process – saving serious money in the process.

"It’s one point of contact through a personal computer equipped with a web browser – that’s all that’s required," he explained, "You can use our same system to track repair orders as well."

A per-claim fee is charged to fleets for using RapidWarranty.com, noted Thacker, but that fee changes based on the volume of business a fleet does through the web portal. "Because it’s web-based, a fleet doesn’t need to invest in expensive software to track warranty claims anymore," he added. "Because in this economy, you don’t want to spend money if you don’t have to."
