Fayetteville, NC, is implementing Mentor Engineering technology management solutions that utilize the Verizon Wireless network across its public works and transit vehicles as well as its police and fire service vehicles in its Public Safety Dept.

For the 218-vehicle Public Safety Dept., the city will utilize the Mentor BBX solution. This includes a stand-alone automatic vehicle location and vehicle telematics collection device integrated with a GPS receiver.

BBX captures data and transmits across the wireless network to the Mentor Fleet software in the office. Data includes real-time vehicle location.

“The combination of BBX and Mentor Fleet is a valuable addition to the city of Fayetteville’s public safety vehicles. With the ability to accurately track vehicle location, Fayetteville will be able to achieve greater fleet efficiency, and more importantly, quicker response times,” said Samuel Mahumane, project manager for Mentor’s systems engineering group.

Fayetteville’s fixed-route and paratransit systems will use Mentor’s Streets Transit software suite, which is integrated with Fayetteville’s existing Trapeze NOVUS web-enabled solution for their demand response operations.

Streets Transit uses integrated modules to manage the transit operations.

The city will also use Mentor’s XMobile Management software for mobile device management.
