Glacier introduces Android tablet

May 29, 2014

Glacier Computer has introduced a new Android tablet for rugged environments. The Fusion 7 features typical enterprise applications with the additional benefits of the Android OS.

Compact and light, the Fusion 7 is capable of running more than 1 million applications with the added benefits that come with ruggedized computers.

“The industrial marketplace is finally ready to accept the changes needed to embrace the value of the Android platform,” said Ron D’Ambrosio, president. “We have had a rugged Android computer for the last couple of years, but didn’t get enough feedback from our industrial customers to release the product. It is still somewhat early, but with the input of much larger market influences in the industry, customers seem to be more amenable to at least talking about using the Android OS as a solution.”

To assist users in adapting to the Android OS, Glacier has teamed with The Allen Group and SOTI to ease the transition. The Allen Group provides application development and consultative expertise.
