Key takeaways
- FMCSA reinstates Forward Thinking Systems—Field Warrior ELD (BYOD), allowing fleets to resume compliant HOS tracking.
- The Garmin version remains revoked, so only the BYOD model is approved for use.
- Fleets using Forward Thinking Systems—Field Warrior ELD (BYOD) should update devices and ensure driver logs are current.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) reinstated Forward Thinking Systems—Field Warrior ELD (BYOD) on February 25.
FMCSA removed the ELD from its list at the end of December 2025 because of failure to meet the minimum requirements outlined by the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, but it was recently reinstated.
It can now be used again to record and transfer hours of service data. The other ELD from the same provider that was revoked at the same time, Forward Thinking Systems—Field Warrior ELD (Garmin), has yet to be reinstated.
