SkyBitz extends relationship with Mesilla Valley Transportation

SkyBitz announced that Mesilla Valley Transportation renewed its asset management technology solutions from SkyBitz for its fleet of roughly 5,000 trailers.

SkyBitz announced that Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT), a locally-owned transportation provider in New Mexico and West Texas, has renewed its asset management technology solutions from SkyBitz for its fleet of roughly 5,000 trailers.

According to the company, MVT was able to update its entire fleet with the latest technology without any upfront hardware costs, resulting in a quick return on investment under the enterprise subscription solution, SkyBitz as a Service.

“As a company that specializes in time-sensitive service, it’s imperative to know where our assets are at all times and providing access to everyone at every level of our company,” said Royal Jones, co-founder, CEO and president, MVT. “SkyBitz delivers complete visibility in real-time that allows us to quickly determine where trailers are sitting idle too long and make informed decisions in order to gain better efficiencies. Having this insight not only saves us money, but allows our customers to be confident that their shipments will arrive at the given destination on time. We chose SkyBitz because they clearly offered the best solution for our growing needs and the best value for our investment.”

MVT noted it was an early adopter of SkyBitz’s trailer tracking technology and has a history of applying different innovations in the trucking business to maximize performance. As MVT’s business evolved, it decided to research the latest technologies available, the company said. After evaluating numerous providers, Dean Rigg, Mesilla Valley's chief financial officer, and his team decided to extend the relationship with SkyBitz.

“Since we began working with MVT in 1999, we’ve witnessed their impressive growth and as their business grew over the years and needs evolved, our technology has also evolved,” said Henry Popplewell, president, SkyBitz.” At SkyBitz, we pride ourselves in building long-term relationships with our customers to help facilitate growth opportunities and ensure they stay on the cutting edge of new technology.”

In addition to real-time tracking as well as trend analytics, the new SkyBitz solution allows MVT to accurately capture and bill for detention by viewing heat maps of idle time on SkyBitz’s web application, the company said. MVT can also improve safety measures with the ability to look up a drivers’ location if they are broken down, in addition to theft prevention and recovery, according to SkyBitz.
