Kenworth Truck Co. has been honored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a 2008 Clean Air Excellence Award. The company said it is the first truck manufacturer to win the honor since the inception of the awards in 2000.

The award recognizes Kenworth's environmental efforts with its T270 Class 6 and T370 Class 7 diesel-electric hybrids, T800 liquefied natural gas tractors and its Clean Power no-idle system.

"The EPA Clean Air Excellence Award is a tremendous honor for Kenworth Truck Company and its employees," said Bill Kozek, Kenworth general manager and Paccar vp. "Kenworth is a leader of the trucking industry's efforts to provide practical technologies, which help customers enhance fuel economy and reduce emissions."
