Wabash National Corp. has released the DuraPlate AeroSkirt for semi-trailers. The product has also been approved by the EPA’s SmartWay program, the company said.

According to Wabash, testing of the AeroSkirt showed a 5.6% fuel savings and a 6% efficiency improvement. It joins other DuraPlate products in Wabash’s lineup. Unique to this item, though, is the ability of the side skirt to flex both inward and outward to reduce damage.

“With fuel economy a growing area of focus for trucking fleets, and in compliance with California Air Resource Board’s (CARB) new trailer aerodynamic requirements, we are excited to introduce this product that improves our customers ability to operate more efficiently,” said Jamie Scarcelli, vp & gm, DuraPlate Products Group.
