Kenworth recently introduced a new reinforced front frame structure option for T880 and T880S models designed to support a wide range of front-mounted equipment such as snowplows, hose reels, and steady legs. The system includes reinforced castings, crossmembers, kicker braces, and an implement plate for added mounting strength.
The factory-installed design is intended to simplify upfitting by eliminating the need for aftermarket suspension modifications and reducing installation complexity. It also avoids required changes to the hood or cooling module, helping maintain driver visibility while streamlining build configurations.
The option reduces time and cost during the upfit process by improving standardization for body builders and fleets. It is currently available for T880S set-forward axle configurations, with additional versions planned later in the year.
Acela launches Monterra II commercial truck chassis for vocational applications
Acela Truck Company recently unveiled its Monterra II cabover commercial truck chassis as a next-generation platform for fire, rescue, utility, and vocational applications. The new chassis replaces the Monterra platform and is positioned as a major milestone in American-made commercial truck development.

Morgan Olson introduces Kestrel work truck for first responder applications
Morgan Olson recently showcased its Kestrel work truck platform at FDIC International as a purpose-built commercial vehicle for first response applications. The Class 2, four-wheel-drive chassis is already in production and designed for both urban and rural emergency operations.
“First responders don’t have the luxury of uncertainty when it comes to their equipment,” Joe Rudolph, Morgan Olson’s VP of business development, stated. “Kestrel was designed and validated to perform in the same harsh, unpredictable conditions they face every day, delivering the durability, capability, and confidence required to operate in both urban and remote environments.”
