The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Shyft Group, Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA), and more.

Orange EV models’ frame rails may crack
Orange EV is recalling certain 2023-2024 e-Triever, 2020-2023 T-Series Tandem Terminal Truck, and 2024-2026 Husk-e Tandem Terminal vehicles. Improper welding may cause frame rails to crack, leading to rail separation. A detached rail can cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of injury.
This recall potentially affects 24 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and repair or replace the frame rails as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 22. Owners may contact Orange EV customer service at 866-688-5223. Orange EV's number for this recall is 2026-SRC-02.
Paccar models’ incorrectly installed quick-release valve
Paccar is recalling certain 2026-2027 Peterbilt 579 and 2027 Kenworth T680 tractors. The trailer air connection quick release valve in the air brake system may have been incorrectly installed, which can cause the trailer to become unstable after the driver applies the brakes. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems." An incorrectly installed quick release valve that does not function properly can increase the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects eight vehicles. Paccar inspected and reinstalled the valves, as necessary. All affected tractors have been repaired; therefore, no owner notification letters are necessary. Utilimaster models’ strobe light may circuit
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2016, 2019, and 2021 Utilimaster Velocity vehicles. Water may enter an improperly sealed strobe light and cause a short circuit. An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.
This recall potentially affects 563 vehicles. Owners are advised to remove the control module for the strobe light. The remedy is currently under development. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were expected to be mailed July 17. Another notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available. VTNA models’ loss of steering control from loose steering arm fasteners
Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) is recalling certain 2026 Volvo VHD, VNL (4), VNR (4), VN, and VAH vehicles. The steering knuckles may have been manufactured with insufficiently tightened steering arms. A loose steering arm can result in a loss of vehicle steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 3,794 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and tighten the fasteners between the steering arm and steering knuckle, as necessary.
