Cummins announced that the EPA has officially certified the engine maker's ISX diesel to the stricter emissions standard that goes into effect this October. The agency also affirmed the use of auxiliary emissions control devices (AECD) to protect the engine under certain operating conditions.

According to Cummins, performance of the new '02-compliant ISX engines will be improved in terms of engine braking capability and overall responsiveness.
