An extended day cab introduced by Kenworth Truck for its T600, T800 and W900 models is aimed at regional haulers and at vocational users seeking more cab comfort. The extended cab runs six inches longer with the roof raised five inches over the OEM's traditional day cab. The OEM says it weighs just 175 lb. more than a standard cab.

Also new from KW:

  • A kit to convert AeroCab sleeper-equipped T600, T800 and W900 models to extended day cabs uses highly tooled production parts to ensure a high-quality transformation. The switch can be completed to production specs at a KW dealer and requires no major modifications to cab structure. The kit provides six more inches of cab length and five inches of added headroom.

  • The lightweight AG400 Series air-ride suspension is available for heavy-duty models in ratings of 40,000 and 46,000 lb. KW says it enhances ride, stability and roll resistance while improving traction on uneven roads and reducing stress on U-joints, linkages and drivetrain components. The unit is also described as “virtually maintenance free.”

  • Bridgestone 445/50R22.5 “wide base” Greatec radial tires can be ordered on T600, T800, T2000 and W900 on-highway trucks later this year.

  • Jost International fifth wheels are now optional on KW trucks, including a low-lube model designed for mated tractor-trailers typically found in beverage and tanker applications

  • A new proprietary aluminum stylized wheel was designed specifically for KW by Alcoa and is offered on all models. Dura-Bright surface treatment is optional.

  • PremierCare Connect Plus web-based maintenance-management system offers real-time reporting and can be customized to integrate with Qualcomm and many third-party systems.
