Rodger G. Marticke, executive vp in charge of strategic planning, quality management and communications, will succeed Hofmann as COO. Marticke's duties will be assumed by Bram B. Johnson, who returns to FedEx Ground as executive vp, effective immediately.
Johnson was previously senior vp of marketing for RPS, which was rebranded FedEx Ground in January 2000.
Hofmann joined RPS as vp of operations in 1985 and played an integral role in building the company. He was promoted to senior vice president of operations in 1990 and president in 1993, during which time the company exceeded $1 billion in annual revenue and reached full coverage of North America.
