Fleets can monitor truck and driver performance on the fly with PerformX from PeopleNet Communications. The new system can send odometer readings, idle histories, fuel consumption, and excess speed and rpm reports, as well as other operating information over the company's Intouch G2X wireless communications network without adding additional on-board computers or software.

Plugging into a truck's J1708 data bus, PerformX can also be programmed to automatically send alarms when a vehicle exceeds a set speed or odometer reading, or makes sudden starts and stops. The alerts can even be routed directly to a manager's e-mail address.
