The Department of Energy reported diesel prices dropped 1.1 cents this week— the first price drop since OPEC’s February announcement that it will cut oil production to keep prices high. This drop brings the average price down to $1.617 per gallon.
Prices dropped in all regions of the country, with the exception of the Rocky Mountains, which saw a 1.3-cent increase. The most dramatic decreases were seen in the West Coast area, with a 4.4-cent drop. Sky-high California prices took a 5.3-cent plunge to $1.874 per gallon.
Gasoline prices also fell 1.4 cents in the U.S. to $1.724 per gallon.
