RedPrairie Corp., says it has jointly developed an off-the-shelf “print and apply” solution for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) with Xterprice Inc. The application is slated to provide fully automated inline labeling systems using Printronix’s printer/applicator systems to meet RFID requirements of suppliers to Wal-Mart and the Dept. of Defense.

RedPrairie’s RFID Igniter software accepts the download of orders requiring labels from manufacturing or warehousing systems, and manages the coordination of Printronix’s print/encoding and applicator equipment in conjunction with conveyor systems.

“As suppliers to Wal-Mart increase shipping volume of RFID-tagged products, the need for more efficient labeling processes will intensify,” said Michael Dempsey, RedPrairie corporate product-market strategy leader. “The integrated RedPrairie-Xterprise-Printronix system is the next step in the evolution of print and apply technology for EPC compliance.”
