    Small transportation businesses are especially hard hit by government regulations, despite federal efforts to reduce cumbersome compliance procedures, according to a stady by the Small Business Research Board (SBRB).

    The survey, which was co-sponsored by International Profit Associates (IPA), found that 92% of small business owners in the transportation industry are spending more time complying with government regs than they did two years ago.

    Overall, 88% of small businesses are spending more time completing compliance requirements. Results from other sectors surveyed include construction and contracting (93%), automotive (90%), retail (90%), distribution and wholesale (85%), manufacturing (83%), and food (80%).
