Truckstop.com has joined forces with Verisk’s CargoNet business to strengthen the fight against cargo theft in the trucking industry. Verisk Analytics is a data analytics provider.

CargoNet said it hosts a national cargo theft database and manages an information-sharing system staffed by crime analysts and subject matter experts to expedite recovery support and mitigate fraud.

“CargoNet specializes in tracking and reporting on cargo theft trends,” said Sonny Smith, assurance services director at Truckstop.com. “Their reports are detailed and comprehensive — providing valuable information on the increasing volume of cargo thefts, when and where they’re taking place, and how to significantly reduce the chance of becoming a victim. Our affiliation with CargoNet will enable us to enhance the overall content provided in the section of our website dedicated to industry alerts. This collaborative sharing of information will promote a much higher degree of awareness and help achieve a mutual goal of educating and protecting the industry.”

In addition, CargoNet said its system uses case management and analytic functions, and contains training and investigative support for law enforcement, as well as theft prevention services.

“Our strategic alliance with Truckstop.com allows us to extend the reach and value of CargoNet. We applaud Truckstop.com for its leadership and proactive approach in the fight against cargo theft. We’re optimistic that the increased awareness and sharing of data will further the goal of reducing cargo theft,” added Anthony Canale, general manager of CargoNet.

Through this alliance, CargoNet will provide weekly cargo theft incident summaries to Truckstop.com members. In addition, CargoNet will offer incentives to Truckstop.com members that also wish to be members of CargoNet.
