Nussbaum Transportation was recently named a 2016 Best Fleet to Drive For by Truckload Carriers Association (TCA). This annual award, sponsored by TCA and CarriersEdge, is given to North American for-hire trucking companies that provide the best workplace experiences for their drivers. Nussbaum also received this same award in 2015.“We’ve built and maintained this elite status among drivers in the Midwest and the trucking industry,” said Tyler Dietrich, recruiter for Nussbaum. “Earning such a recognized award like TCA’s Best Fleet to Drive For, it really validates our efforts and encourages us to find new ways to improve. We can tell people we’re a great company to work for, but when there are outside sources verifying it, it tells us we’re headed in the right direction.”In order to become part of TCA’s exclusive Best Fleets program, companies must be nominated by at least one of its company drivers or owner operators. From the valid nominations and the trucking companies’ desire to participate, CarriersEdge surveyed a selection of drivers and interviewed human resources representatives and executives of the fleets about their corporate direction, policies and programs. Nominated fleets were then evaluated against a scoring matrix covering a variety of categories, including total compensation package; health benefits; pension plans; professional development opportunities; fleet safety record; and more.“At Nussbaum, we boast one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry, provide our drivers with strong accessorial packages and achievable bonuses, consistent weekly home time and guarantee our drivers a minimum pay of $1,050 a week,” Dietrich said. The average driver at Nussbaum earns above $62,000 gross per year. Other driver benefits include miles paid loaded or empty, excellent health insurance, paid vacation and holidays, company-matching 401K, and per diem allowances. The company also provides drivers with excellent equipment, quality maintenance and a driver-centered atmosphere. Nussbaum is currently hiring in multiple areas, particularly in the Midwest.
