Tyron wheel safety bands are now being sold in the United States to promote vehicle stability and control in steering, cornering, and braking during a tire blowout.

These bands are produced by the British manufacturer Tyron Automotive Group. Each truck wheel is built with a specific drop center or “well” so it call be fitted with a tire. When a tire develops a puncture, deflates, or blows, air pressure in the tire no longer holds the tire's sidewall in place against the rim. The tire can then slip into the wheel well in the same way it goes on, reducing handling, steering, and drive control and possibly allowing the tire to come off the rim.

Tyron's alloy steel bands wrap around the truck wheel, covering the well. When a tire fitted with this system deflates, the damaged tire is prevented from slipping into the wheel well. This allows a driver to run on a flat tire for miles and maneuver the vehicle with greater control and safety.
