Cummins Inc and National Truck Protection Co Inc have expanded their NTP Encore protection plans to include coverage exclusively for Cummins-powered medium-duty trucks. The new plans offer pre-purchase inspection, nationwide coverage, unlimited mileage, and instant claim payments.

These new plans are available for trucks with Cummins B5.9, C8.3, ISB, and ISC diesel engines regardless of mileage and make, model, or year of truck. Coverage starts working immediately when NTP conducts a standard pre-purchase inspection. It's also available for customers who currently own a medium-duty truck and have no warranty coverage. If the inspection turns up a major problem, NTP will not issue Encore coverage.

Truckers can contact NTP 24 hours per day, seven days per week; the company has 2,500 repair facilities. With any NTP Encore plan, a used-truck owner's liability for mechanical failure of any part covered is $150 per occurrence. After that, repair payments are made directly to the repair facility within hours.

Pre-owned truck buyers have a choice of two NTP Encore plans for their medium-duty Cummins engines:

    • Six Months Coverage — Unlimited Miles covers parts and labor to repair failure of all internally lubricated parts and more than 40 other parts.

    • 12 Months Coverage — Unlimited Miles provides protection from failure or defects in material or workmanship for 18 major components.
