Total Logistic Control's Holland Logistic Center, a 110,000-square-foot varied-temperature freezer and cooler facility, is celebrating more than 27 years of remaining accident-free.
Pete Westerman, chief executive officer, and director of risk management Stephen M. Alberda awarded the Holland Logistic Center's facility manager Mike Westerhoff with the President's Safety Award.
This is a companywide safety record for SuperValu Inc.-owned TLC. It is probable that the Holland Logistic Center has gone longer than 27 years without an incident, but safety data has only been tracked since 1981. The staff at the Holland Logistic Center has worked there an average of 20 years.
“The national average for OSHA-recordable injuries for refrigerated warehousing and storage (NAICS Code 49312) is 8.70,” said Alberda. “This is the most recent data available from the Department of Labor (2006).”
